The Rhode Island MicroEnterprise Association, Inc. is a non-profit statewide microenterprise intermediary dedicated to creating and developing microenterprise programs throughout Rhode Island in partnership with community-based organizations to train and support people who want to start their own small businesses. RI MicroEnterprise Association, Inc. provides microbusiness training, technical assistance, and on-going support and encouragement for small business entrepreneurs. There is no charge for the services provided by the Association. RI MicroEnterprise Association, Inc. was founded in May, 2000 and delivered the first microbusiness training program at the International Institute of Rhode Island in July, 2000. In its first year, new microenterprise programs were created and implemented in four communities: Providence, Pawtucket, Warwick/West Warwick, and Bristol/Warren. More than 175 people have completed the 4-week training and have graduated from the program. As a result of the microenterprise program, many new businesses have been started. Even more people have left their dull, unsatisfying jobs to start a new business and begin doing something they love and are passionate about! The heart of the program is a free 4-week Microbusiness Training Program that is both educational and motivational. People enrolled in the program receive training in business planning, marketing, business finance, and business growth strategies. Best of all, they learn how they can translate their dreams into an exciting and fulfilling enterprise. These fast-moving classes also help entrepreneurs understand:
