Business Expo 2001 Features MicroEntrepreneurs!
The Rhode Island MicroEnterprise Association will have Booth #637 to showcase the Association's programs, its graduates, two new videos and its new web site (www.rimicroenterprise.org). Owners of some of the state's fastest growing microbusinesses will be present, including Jane E. Poulin, Tim & Kate Reinke, Janna R. VanDorick, Stephen Maciel, Geneva Urquhart, Ami Coli, John A. Varella, and Jacinto Ramos.

Two New Videos Debut at BUSINESS EXPO 2001
Joe Rocco of RocJo Productions completed taping on March 12th for two new videos being produced by the Rhode Island MicroEnterprise Association. One video features microentrepreneurs talking about the training offered by the Association. A second video focuses on obtaining additional financial support for the program. It features Dr. Lee Arnold, Director of the state's Department of Labor & Training; William Shuey; Executive Director of the International Institute of Rhode Island; Susan Connery, Director of the Feinstein Community Service Center; James Hagen, President of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce and President of the Rhode Island Chamber of Business & Industry; David Karoff of the Rhode Island Foundation; and Renee Fullerton, Director of the Homebased Business Association of Rhode Island. The videos debut at Business Expo 2001.

State MicroEnterprise Director Lobbies for Federal Funding of MicroBusiness, SBDCs and the Center for Women & Enterprise
Ann Marie Marshall, State Director of the Rhode Island MicroEnterprise Association, recently led a delegation to Washington, DC to talk with and lobby the state's federal legislators to continue funding SBA programs, particularly the PRIME initiative, the SBDCs and the Center for Women & Enterprise. "It is crucially important that the government continue to fund these programs and others that assist small business owners start and grow their new enterprises," according to Ann Marie Marshall. "I was able to meet with Senator Jack Reed and the policy experts in the offices of Rep. Patrick Kennedy, Rep. James Langevin, and Senator Lincoln Chafee and convey the importance to Rhode Islanders of continued funding for these SBA programs."
