MicroEnterprise Association, in partnership with community-based organizations
located throughout the state, provides free microbusiness training and
business technical assistance to persons wishing to start their own small
business. Our services are accessible by the owners of more than 10,000
microbusinesses and home-based businesses in Rhode Island.

SELECTED AS THE 2002 HOME-BASED BUSINESS ADVOCATE TO BE HONORED AT THE
RHODE ISLAND SALUTE TO SMALL BUSINESS
Alumni Chavonne Thomas, Amanda Rose and EP Student Michelle Kulikowski
along with Professor Allen Kruger will attend the 2002 RI Salute to
Small Business and will accept the award on behalf of Professor Kenneth
Proudfoot at the event. The annual week long Rhode Island Salute to
Small Business celebration will take place during the week of May 20-24,
2002. This year 13 small business owners and advocates will be honored
during the Rhode Island Small Business Alliance (RISBA) Dinner at the
Rhode Island Convention Center on May 23. For more information about

National Small Business Week, as designated by the President of the
United States each year since 1963, highlights the contributions small
businesses make to America's economy. Eight free professional development
seminars will be held at locations across the state during the week.

NEW FREE MICROBUSINESS
TRAINING PROGRAMS TO BEGIN IN JUNE
The Free MicroBusiness course will meet Tuesday & Thursday evenings,
June 4, 6, & 11, 13 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Warwick Public Library,
600 Sandy Lane, Warwick, RI. A Spanish MicroBusiness course will take
place at CHiSPA (Center for Hispanic Policy & Advocacy) on Saturday
mornings from 10 to 12 noon on June 1, 8, 15, 22. International Institute,

EMPLOYEES FOR THE FUTURE: CRANSTON JOB FAIR 2002
The Rhode Island MicroEnterprise Association participated in the Fifth
Annual Employees for the Future: Cranston Job Fair 2002, which took
place on May 8 at the Cranston Community Youth Center. The event was
sponsored by the city of Cranston, in cooperation with Cranston Public
Schools, and Greater Cranston Chamber of Commerce. Special Thanks to
Jean M. Campbell, Principal/Director and Joyce A. Muier-Pastore, School
to Career Coordinator both of the Cranston Area Career & Technical Center
for a Job Well Done!
