SOVEREIGN BANK JOIN MUSEUM BOARD TO LAUNCH CAMPAIGN FOR GILBERT STUART BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

SAUNDERSTOWN, RI-Officials from Sovereign Bank will arrive here on Thursday, October 7 to tour the Gilbert Stuart Birthplace & Museum with members of the museum board. The visit and tour will be followed by a press conference to announce the kick-off of another stage of the 2-year GilbertStuart2005 fundraising campaign. Proceeds from the campaign support both the Gilbert Stuart Museum and the Arts in Education project of the Youth Entrepreneurship Program.

Frank Casale, Sovereign Bank Vice-President, will meet with members of the GilbertStuart2005 committee, including Curtis Givan, President of the Gilbert Stuart board of Trustees and Trustee members of the Gilbert Stuart board of directors; Ann Marie Marshall, State Director of the Rhode Island MicroEnterprise Association; John & Deborah Thompson, Co-Direcotrs of the Gilbert Stuart Birthplace & Museum; and Kenneth Proudfoot, Director of the Youth Entrepreneurship Program.

The committee's next major event is the celebration of the 249th Birthday of Rhode Island-born portrait artist Gilbert Stuart at the Rhode Island State House on December 1st, 2004 from 9-11 am. More than 100 campaign champions, chaired by Sovereign Bank, will be selling slices of the Gilbert Stuart birthday cake for $24.90. Supporters will be invited to the Rhode Island State House on Wednesday, December 1st for birthday cake and coffee.

Who:         The GilbertStuart2005 Campaign, a partnership of the Gilbert Stuart Birthplace & Museum and the Rhode Island Youth Entrepreneurship Program.

What:        A Birthday fundraiser for the GilbertStuart2005 campaign, offering slices of Gilbert Stuart Birthday Cake for $24.90 per slice or $249 for a whole cake. 100% of the proceeds benefit the campaign. 

When:       Wednesday, December 1, 2004 from 9-11am.  

Where:      Birthday cake and coffee/tea will be served in the Rotunda at the Rhode Island State House, Providence, RI.

How:         Sell books of ten tickets that entitle the bearer to a slice of birthday cake commemorating the 249^th birthday of Gilbert Stuart.

Goal:         Raise $25,000 towards the $1 million GilbertStuart2005 campaign.
