In The News: Lots of new [and experienced] business owners are now joining the Rhode Island MicroEnterprise Association.  The Association offers practical affordable memberships to assist micro, small and growing businesses in Rhode Island to grow faster and stronger.  The yearly fee is just $95 and active helps its members to make more money! Membership includes a quarterly networking event, newsletters, marketing workshops, and a free mentoring service for members.

NEW LIBRARY: The Rhode Island Youth Entrepreneurship Program is getting the first dedicated public Entrepreneurship Library ready to open at Quonset Business Park. The exclusive collection of business biographies, textbooks, DVD’s, videos, reference works, maps, and commercial trade publications will be available to entrepreneurs of all ages who are interested in creating, writing, and developing new business plans. More news on the library and its services for entrepreneurs will be released soon.

 

Nobel Peace Prize: For the first time in a long time the Nobel Peace Prize was not awarded to a politician!  This year’s winner was Muhammad Yunus, founder and promoter of microloans for the poorest of the poor in Bangladesh. The Nobel Peace Prize Commission has finally recognized the importance of microenterprise efforts in stimulating positive community economic development and bringing peace through greater prosperity.
